Overview:The School of Languages and Linguistics (LAL) seeks to appoint a Lecturerin English (ESL/EFL) as part of the English Language Enhancement Strategyfor international students at Griffith University, Queensland Australia.The successful applicant will undertake the teaching of English to studentsfrom culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. He or she willconvene and teach in English language enhancement courses in cooperationwith colleagues in the School of Languages and Linguistics and the GriffithEnglish Language Institute (GELI), as well as designing innovativematerials for these courses. Although the position is primarily a teachingone, the appointee will also have the opportunity to undertake research inareas related to the teaching and learning of English.
This is a Fixed term (12 months), Full time position based at the Nathanand Gold Coast Campus, Queensland, Australia.
The role:This is a teaching-intensive position. Your primary role will involveconvening an undergraduate English language enhancement course acrossmultiple campuses, contributing to the development and innovation of thecurriculum and materials for this course, and teaching in one or moreundergraduate English language enhancement courses in cooperation withother staff at LAL and GELI. You will also have the opportunity to conductresearch leading to publications in the area of English language learningand teaching. You will undertake administrative responsibilities for theprogram, School and Faculty, participate actively in school, faculty anduniversity meetings and forums, and contribute to the profession of ESL/EFLand Applied Linguistics both within the University and in the broaderacademic community.
The person:The successful applicant will hold a PhD in English as a Second/ForeignLanguage or related area and will have recent experience teaching ESL/EFLat tertiary level and the ability to apply creative approaches to teachingand learning and develop innovative course materials. You will also need toprovide leadership in delivering courses in collaboration with a supportingteaching team. You will have the capacity to publish high quality researchand supervise Honours, Masters, and PhD theses in appropriate areas.
Salary range:Lecturer level B: $73,388 - $87,151 AUD per annum.
