Newcastle University is seeking to appoint 2 Lecturers in AppliedLinguistics based in the Applied Linguistics Section of the School ofEducation, Communication & Language Sciences. You will be expected to makea major contribution to research, research supervision, teaching andadministration of the Section and School.

Expertise in any area of Applied Linguistics is welcome, but applicationsare especially welcome in the following areas: cross/interculturalcommunication; second language teacher education; multilingualism; spokenand written discourse; corpus linguistics; second language acquisition.

The responsibilities will include the following:- To make a significant contribution to the Applied Linguistics Section'staught postgraduate programmes in TESOL, Educational and AppliedLinguistics and Cross Cultural Communication- To supervise/co-supervise research by Masters and Doctoral students inApplied Linguistics/TESOL/Cross Cultural Communication- To undertake administrative duties as required by the Head of School,including direction of at least 1 Degree Programme- To act as personal tutor to students- To engage in income generation activities to support teaching andresearch in the Applied Linguistics Section- To serve on School, Faculty and University committees where appropriate- To undertake academic duties as required by the Head of School- To engage in high quality research leading to high quality publications- To seek external research grants and collaborate with other members ofthe School and the Centre for Research in Linguistics and Language Scienceson major research projects
