Two Lecturers in Applied Linguistics/English Language Teaching
£34,607 - £43,840 per annum
These posts are intended to enhance further our provision in EnglishLanguage Teaching and to contribute to the continued development ofresearch excellence in Modern Languages at Southampton (ranked second inthe 2008 national Research Assessment Exercise). The post holders will bepursuing a programme of research leading to publication at national andinternational level. Applicants should also be able to contribute to theinter-disciplinary research culture of Modern Languages and the Faculty ofHumanities. They will teach research-led postgraduate and undergraduatemodules, and contribute to modules which are team-taught with other ModernLanguages colleagues. They will also contribute to the efficient managementand administration of Modern Languages.
Applications are invited from candidates who have an established researchprofile in any area of Applied Linguistics/English Language Teaching, butparticularly from candidates with research/teaching interests. Post (1)will focus on at least one of the following: language teaching pedagogy,communicative language teaching, language teacher education, curriculumdesign, or language for specific purposes. Post (2) will focus on anyaspect(s) of Global Englishes, World Englishes and/or English as a LinguaFranca. One post (with a preference for this to be Post 1) will beavailable from 1 September 2010, the other from 1 January 2011.

These two Lectureships are part of four permanent Lectureships currentlybeing recruited to within Modern Languages.
