Salary scale: £30,747 per annum (pro rata if part time).
Applicants are invited for the position of Lecturer in Applied Linguisticswithin the School of Arts and Humanities, reference 5510.
This job provides an opportunity for a candidate with academic potentialand interest in applied linguistics to develop their career. The post isintended to support the continued development of teaching and research inapplied linguistics at Swansea University. The postholder will contributeto teaching of modules on undergraduate English Language Studies and TEFLschemes, and on the MA TEFL programme, and there will be some opportunityto contribute to the development of further modules and programmes. Thepostholder will join the supervision team for the distance PhD programme inApplied Linguistics, specialising in language acquisition, vocabularyresearch and related areas.
Applicants will have a Higher Degree in Applied Linguistics or a closelyrelated subject and will have a proven ability to produce publicationswhich can contribute to the School REF (Research Excellence Framework)return. They will understand research funding mechanisms and processes, andwill demonstrate the potential to develop research objectives andproposals, either individually or in collaboration. Competence in a rangeof research methods and a high level of written, oral and interpersonalskills are also essential. Previous experience of language teaching isdesirable.
