The University of Konstanz is one of the nine Universities of Excellence inthe Federal Republic of Germany.

The Department of Linguistics invites applications for a Postdoc/Ph.D.Position in Semantics (Salary Scale 13 TV-L).

The positions are available for 3 years starting October 1st, 2010 or assoon as possible thereafter.

The appointments for the Postdoc position is at 100% of Salary Scale 13TV-L (in principle, this position can be divided into two half-timepositions), for the Ph.D. position at 50% of Salary Scale 13 TV-L.

The research positions are available within the project 'Decomposition ofcomparative and superlative quantificational noun phrases at thesyntax/semantics interface' funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).The aim of the project is to develop a fully compositional analysis of nounphrases involving comparative or superlative morphology. It applies methodsfrom formal semantics, syntax and pragmatics, as well as empirical methodsin corpus linguistics. The research project is based at the Department ofLinguistics and the Zukunftskolleg of the University of Konstanz.

The successful candidate will have an appropriate degree (Master for PhDposition or PhD for Post Doc position) in Linguistics as well as abackground in formal semantics, and ideally in syntax and/or pragmatics.Good command of English is required.
