Description:
The Department of Protein Evolution at the Max Planck Institute forDevelopmental Biology in Tübingen, Germany, is opening a two yearpostdoctoral position in the area of linguistic typology and languageevolution. This position is part of a joint project of Andrei Lupas (MPI;Biology) and Gerhard Jäger (Tübingen Center for the Study of Language;Linguistics) on the application of statistical methods from bioinformaticsto problems of language evolution. The successful candidate will be aresearcher with demonstrated research experience in linguistic typology,especially regarding the work with data bases like the World Atlas ofLanguage Structure or the World Color Survey. Furthermore, openness forwork with advanced statistical methods like clustering techniques isexpected. Excellent language skills (written and oral) in English are required.
The salary is figured according to the union contract named TVöD, E 13.Applications should include CV, an outline of research experience, as wellas names and addresses of up to three references.
