Description:

Seeking a full-time Acquisitions Editor in Linguistics for our NorthAmerican office for immediate start. Responsibilities include assisting inthe implementation and development of the existing publishing plans(consisting of books, journals, and electronic products) and theacquisition of new manuscripts and other products for publication. TheAcquisitions Editor will report to the Editorial Director in Berlin andwill be supported by an Editorial Coordinator within the editorial officein North America.

The successful applicant must be thoroughly familiar with the field ofLinguistics (particularly Applied Linguistics) and with institutions whereLinguistics is taught and researched. He/she will have developed book andjournal programs at an academic publisher, or will have acquired similarqualifications elsewhere. Extensive travel to academic institutions andconferences will be required in order to recruit authors and editors aswell as to maintain existing contacts. In addition, applicants should haveoutstanding project management skills, feel comfortable in complex workcontexts, and be capable of efficiently supervising the Editorial Coordinator.

Position offers a competitive salary and benefits. Excellent written andspoken English is essential; knowledge of German a plus.
