Northern Arizona University English Department: Assistant Professor inApplied Linguistics, Tenure-track
Assistant professor of Applied Linguistics, tenure track, starting Fall2011. The Northern Arizona University (NAU) English Department seeks anindividual specializing in second language acquisition (SLA), with teachinginterests that encompass SLA and other areas in TESL and appliedlinguistics. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the MA-TESLprogram, the applied linguistics doctoral program, and the Englishundergraduate program. Responsibilities also include active research;student advising and mentoring; doctoral committee work; and department,college, university, and professional service. Salary will be commensuratewith experience.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in applied linguistics or related disciplinein hand by date of appointment, August 2011; primary research interest insecond language acquisition.
Preferred qualifications: refereed publications in applied linguistics,including area of SLA specialization; evidence of empirical researchagenda; evidence of professional activity in additional areas (e.g.,language skills, second language pedagogy, language testing andassessment); demonstration of ability to teach graduate and undergraduatecourses in SLA and other TESL/applied linguistics areas; experiencementoring graduate and undergraduate students; experience working andinteracting with diverse cultures; experience teaching ESL/EFL.
