Doctoral assistant position in the English Department of the University ofGeneva

Starting date: 1 February 2011.

Specifications: Applicants must have an MA (or equivalent degree) inlinguistics or in English (with a specialisation in linguistics). Advancedskills in English are required. Applicants are expected to have theirresearch interests in the field of syntax. Preference will be given tocandidates whose research focuses on English historical syntax and/orcomparative Germanic syntax.

Duties: Teaching in English linguistics (3 hours per week), contribution toadministrative tasks, doctoral research.

Terms of employment: Two-year contract, renewable twice for periods of twoyears and one year respectively, for a total of five years. 70% in thefirst two years, full time in the remaining three years. Salary: 46'153 CHF(ca. 35'000 EUR) per year before taxes in the first year, rising to 78'371CHF (ca. 59'000 EUR) in the final year.
