The Center for Language and Cognition Groningen announces a four-yearPostdoc position in generative linguistics (1.0 fte).
This job is part of a larger research project called "IncompleteParenthesis", funded by the European Research Council. The general programinvestigates the relation between ellipsis phenomena and parenthesis from atheoretical and cross-linguistic perspective. The principal investigator isDr. Mark de Vries. Furthermore, there are two Postdocs (1 vacancy), two PhDstudents (vacancies), supporting staff, and there is an international boardof advisors. Each researcher will carry out his or her own sub-project, aswell as contribute to the overall aims.

Requirements- A PhD degree in theoretical linguistics or a related field;- Commitment to the general project; willingness to cooperate;- Affinity with generative syntax, and a broad linguistic interest,including typology and information structure;- Full proficiency in English; motivation to learn Dutch (if applicable).
Conditions of employmentStarting salary from EUR 3088,- gross per month. An 8% holiday allowanceper annum and an end of the year bonus (8,3%) for a full-time position.Starting date: 1 Feb. 2011Duration of the contract: 4 yearsStatus: employeeAppointment: 1.0 fte (including a 0.2 fte teaching load)The position requires residence in Groningen, 38 hours/week research andteaching.
Affiliation: the candidates will be affiliated with the 'Syntax andSemantics' group of the Center for Language and Cognition Groningen (CLCG)at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Groningen. This instituteembraces all the Linguistics research in the faculty.
