Description:
The Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Santa Cruzannounces the opening of a tenure-track/tenured position. The position canbe filled at any rank up to the mid-Associate Professor level (withtenure). The department is seeking applications from candidates whoseprimary research area is formal syntax.
The successful candidate will contribute to existing strengths in thedepartment but will also add to those strengths in new and substantiveways. He or she will also contribute breadth and depth to the undergraduateand graduate curricula.
The department has Ph.D. and M.A. programs in theoretical linguisticsfocused on semantics, phonology, and syntax, with a growing strength inexperimental methodologies. It also sponsors two undergraduate majors.Further information about the department, its faculty, students, andprograms is available at http://ling.ucsc.edu and at http://lrc.ucsc.edu.The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to thediversity and excellence of the academic community through their research,teaching, and service.
Rank: Assistant Professor or Associate ProfessorSalary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Minimum Qualifications:Assistant Professor Level: Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related field in hand by September 2011, and demonstrated record of excellence inresearch and potential for university teaching.
Associate Professor Level: Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related
field, demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
