The School of Languages, Cultures & Linguistics at the University ofCanterbury (Christchurch, New Zealand) invites applications for theposition of Associate Professor/Professor in Linguistics, commencing 1stJuly 2011. Applicants must possess a PhD qualification in Linguistics.
The successful applicant will teach into the undergraduate andpost-graduate programmes, in addition to providing mentoring andsupervision to Masters and Ph.D. students. Proven experience and ability inteaching phonology is essential. The ability to teach in other areas,particularly in historical linguistics, may be advantageous.
The successful applicant will maintain a high quality output in researchand publications, consistent with the level of appointment, and willcontribute to academic leadership in the linguistics community atCanterbury. Research opportunities will include participation inwide-ranging interdisciplinary research in the recently-established NewZealand Institute of Language, Brain, and Behaviour at the University ofCanterbury, with which the Linguistics Programme is closely associated.Applicants will be expected to show evidence of academic leadership and atrack record of obtaining external research funding.
