At the Institute for Anglophone Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Universityof Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen, the following position is to be filled:
Full professorship for English linguistics (W2 salary scale)
The successful applicant should focus in teaching and research on theGerman state exam programs (teacher training) as well as on bachelor andmaster programs.
In the Department of Anglophone Studies teaching and research is centredaround language variation and use in diverse cultural contexts throughoutthe English-speaking world. The applicants should be qualified in Englishlinguistics, especially the core linguistic areas, in both research andteaching. It is expected of applicants that they have a data-drivenapproach and are acquainted with modern methods of data collection andanalysis. Applicants should have a research focus in semantics, pragmaticsor in variational linguistics. Experience in the area of studies programdesign and in administration on a department level is advantageous.Peer-reviewed publications are expected as is experience in externallyfunded research projects. Working knowledge of German is essential.
