We are seeking linguists to teach in a new online Master of Science programin Translation which begins fall 2011. As globalization continues to impactbusiness and international relations, translation plays an increasinglyimportant role in cultural and economic exchanges. This NYU curriculum hasbeen designed to meet the need for translators for global businesstransactions and law. Areas of specialization include legal and/orfinancial translation. The program focuses on translation from French orSpanish into English.

Part-time faculty members are needed to teach courses in theory oftranslation, pragmatics and discourse analysis. The M.S. in Translationcurriculum emphasizes advanced linguistic competence, a solid theoreticalfoundation, a thorough comprehension of legal and financial subject matter,as well as excellent writing skills, speed, and accuracy, and is conceivedto produce graduates with a strong foundation and demonstrable professionalcompetencies for this growing field. Qualifications for teaching in theprogram include a Ph.D. in the relevant field of linguistics and universitylevel teaching experience.
