The English Linguistics Group at the University of Kaiserslautern currentlyhas one opening for a doctoral student or postdoctoral fellow in the area oflanguage development. Current research in the group includes first languagedevelopment, second language development, bilingualism, and therelationship between language and cognition. The candidate will be expected to develop his/her own research leading to adissertation, German Habilitation, and/or academic publications in one of theresearch areas mentioned above. In addition, s/he will be expected toparticipate in ongoing projects and teach up to two courses per semester(total 3 hours per week).
The candidate must have completed a degree in a relevant area such aslinguistics or developmental psychology, ideally with a focus on languagedevelopment, before taking up the position (i.e., Masters or equivalent for thedoctoral position; PhD or equivalent for the postdoctoral position). Alsorequired is a very good knowledge of English and ideally at least a workingknowledge of German.
Salary is on the German scale TV-L E13, 50%. Some additional funds areavailable to cover travel costs for presentation at conferences andattendance at courses off site (e.g., summer schools). The position is forthree years, with possible extension as appropriate. The earliest starting dateis March 1, 2011.
