Description:

The University of Potsdam invites applications for the post of FullProfessor (W3) in Theoretical Computational Linguistics. TheoreticalComputational Linguistics at Potsdam plays an important role in connectingtheoretical linguistics, clinical and psycholinguistics and computationallinguistics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more ofthese areas:

- Grammar formalisms and (probabilistic) parsing of natural language- machine learning techniques for language processing- computational semantics

Knowledge of symbolic and/or statistical methods and corpus-based methodsis presupposed. The research profile of the candidate should fit into theinterdisciplinary nature of the Excellence Center for Cognitive Sciences atPotsdam (http://www.uni-potsdam.de/humfak/hum-exzellenzbereich.html).Participation is expected in the Collaborative Research Project(Sonderforschungsbereich 632), Information Structure: the linguistic meansfor structuring utterances, sentences and texts (see:http://www.sfb632.uni-potsdam.de/main.html), and in other projects relatedto cognitive science. Experience in obtaining third-party funding and aninternational presence is desirable.
