Meeting Description:
Following the success of the 1st ESP in Asia Conference held at ChongqingUniversity, China, in October 2009, we are pleased to announce that the 2ndESP in Asia Conference will be held at the University of Nottingham NingboChina, from 11th to 13th November 2010.
The theme of the conference is 'Engaging Ecologies, EvolvingEmpowerment'. As ESP grows in Asia, it needs to evolve practices thatengage the ecologies in which it operates. Such ecologies include, on the onehand, sociolinguistic realities such as multilingualism and variation in globalEnglish(es), and, on the other hand, variable professional and academiccultures and practices in Asia. The conference theme seeks to capture thenotion that through engaging these ecologies, ESP may evolve moreempowering paradigms, both for individuals and for institutions.
