The Linguistics Department at the University of Kansas invites applicationsfor a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Syntax expected to beginas early as August 18, 2012. A Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related fieldwith a specialization in syntax is expected by the start date of appointment.The successful candidate will have a strong record of research in syntax andexpertise in a related area such as field work, morphology, or semantics. Thecandidate should also demonstrate excellence in teaching and show apotential for external funding. Responsibilities will include maintaining anactive research program, supervising graduate and undergraduate research,teaching courses in syntax and other courses in linguistics, and contributingto departmental governance. We seek applicants whose interests andexperience intersect with existing research in the department.
