The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures has been authorized toinvite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of AssistantProfessor in Spanish Sociolinguistics to begin September 2012. We are seekingexpertise in one of the following fields: sociolinguistics of U.S. Spanish,sociolinguistics of Caribbean Spanish, linguistic variation in the IberianPeninsula, linguistic variation in New World Spanish, language contact in theSpanish-speaking world, social aspects of bilingualism, sociophonetics,language ideology. A secondary interest in contemporary phonological theorywould be an asset. Candidates should have native or near-native fluency inSpanish and English. Evidence of outstanding teaching ability and research areessential.
