Tenure-Track Positions in Media, Technology, and Society

The Department of Communication Studies at Northwestern University seeksto hire for two tenure-track appointments in media, technology, and society;the appointments will begin September 1, 2012. Both appointments will be atthe level of assistant professor. The successful candidates will be expectedto publish innovative research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses,and perform professional service commensurate with rank. Potential to attractexternal funding is expected.

Candidates should have an interest in health communication and/or in mediaindustries and institutions. Areas of expertise include but are not limited to:health care organizations and networks; health applications of communicationtechnology; digital media uses; traditional and new media organizations;media arts and culture; entertainment and gaming; media and democracy;media and policy formation; and political communication.

The Department of Communication Studies supports a popular undergraduatemajor and graduate programs in Media, Technology, and Society, Interactionand Social Influence, and Rhetoric and Public Culture, as well as aninterdisciplinary graduate program in Technology and Social Behavior.Through special resources for research support and scholarly eventprogramming, the department is able to offer rich opportunities for scholarlydevelopment. School of Communication faculty also can have opportunitiesduring their career at Northwestern to teach and conduct research at theNorthwestern University campus in Doha, Qatar.
