The Linguistics Department of the University of Massachusetts Amherst andCommonwealth Honors College invite applications for a joint tenure-trackposition for a theoretical linguist with a specialization in languageacquisition at the assistant professor level, starting September 1, 2012.The position will involve advising and teaching at the graduate andundergraduate levels as well as participating in initiatives to enrich theofferings of Commonwealth Honors College. Commonwealth Honors College isthe undergraduate honors college at UMass Amherst, and as such half of theteaching load for this position will be undergraduate honors coursesoffered by the Linguistics Department. We seek applicants who can developand supervise experimental studies and whose research interests complementthose of the current Linguistics faculty.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in linguistics or related field by August 31, 2012strongly preferred; but firm expectation of ABD by August 31, 2012 will beconsidered. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Thestandard teaching load is two courses per semester.
