Description:

The Department of English Language and Literature at the National Universityof Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a tenure track position in eithercognitive linguistics or sociolinguistics, with a focus on variation studies.This position will be at the level of assistant professor or associate professor,depending on the applicant's academic experience and publication record.

Applicants should have a PhD in Linguistics, a sound record of internationalpublications in the field, and a commitment to teaching at the undergraduateand graduate levels. As the post is in the English Language section ofDepartment of English Language and Literature, they will be expected toteach foundational modules in linguistic theory drawing on data primarily fromEnglish. All candidates should have the potential to develop an internationalstanding in their chosen fields, if they do not already have one.

NUS expects the highest standards of teaching and scholarship from itsfaculty. In return, it offers excellent terms and conditions. There isconsiderable support for research, including grants for research projects,conference money and a very well funded library. Salary will becommensurate with experience and level of appointment.
