Summary:The English Department of Metropolitan State College of Denver seeks atenure-track faculty member in General Linguistics. Responsibilitiesinclude: teaching undergraduate English majors and linguistics majors andminors (day, evening, and weekend as needed), including History of English,Introduction to Linguistics, and Semantics; ability to work with and besensitive to the educational needs of a culturally diverse urban population;and advising students in the major. The position requires teaching fourcourses each semester, including courses in the Department's GeneralStudies classes, such as Freshman Composition, and working onprofessional development and service. We welcome applicants who havepursued research interests in diverse cultures and languages or whosecritical approaches include issues of race, ethnicity, or gender.

Qualifications:Required Qualifications: PhD in Linguistics by Dec. 31, 2011.Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants withevidence of successful college teaching in the field because MetropolitanState College of Denver has a primary mission in teaching undergraduates;demonstrated ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needsof a culturally diverse urban population; and evidence of familiarity withinnovative scholarship and pedagogy. We seek applicants with experienceinvolving students in research.
