Department of EnglishAssistant Professor (Applied English Linguistics)(Ref. 1112/086(482)/2) (Closing date: December 12, 2011)

The Department is keen, if possible, to make an appointment in the fieldof sociolinguistics, preferably in language in new media, digital discourse, andliteracies. Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree; (ii) a record ofteaching general linguistics courses at both undergraduate and postgraduatelevels; (iii) a record of successful supervision of postgraduate students; and(iv) a good track record of research grants and publications in the aboveareas.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three yearsinitially commencing August 2012, which, subject to mutual agreement, maylead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications andexperience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package,including medical care, a contract-end gratuity for an appointment of twoyears or longer, and housing benefits for eligible appointees.
