Lector of English as a Second Language
Yale University English Language Program seeks to hire a full-time lector ofEnglish as a Second Language in a 10-month academic year appointmentbeginning August 1, 2012. Minimum requirements are: Master's degree inTESOL/TEFL/TESL, (Applied) Linguistics or related field, and two yearsexperience. Initial one-year appointment with possibility of renewal. Thesuccessful candidate will have native proficiency in English, teachingexperience showing a strong commitment to English as a SecondLanguage instruction/pedagogy, experience developing curriculum andassessment tools, and experience teaching graduate and professionalstudents. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experienceteaching English for Professional Purposes in an academic setting,particularly Business English.
The lector's teaching responsibility consists of three to four courses persemester of intermediate and advanced-level academic English languagecourses and includes developing innovative teaching materials andintegrating computer-assisted instruction within a communicativeframework.
