The Division of English & Applied Linguistics seeks a tenure-track AppliedLinguistics / Linguistics Specialist to begin August 2012.
The ideal candidate will: 1) Contribute to and teach a variety of undergraduateand graduate applied linguistics and linguistics courses as well asdevelopmental and freshman composition classes; 2) Assist in building ourLinguistics course offerings as needs are identified; 3) Assist with advancesin student-learning outcome assessment in the English and AppliedLinguistics Program; 5) Maintain a continuous record of scholarly/ creativeactivity; and 6) Be willing to undergo training in order to teach a DistanceEducation course.
The duties include: 1) Teaching 12 credit hours per semester (faculty mayapply for a one-course load reduction for research, instructional innovation, orservice); 2) Student advisement; and 3) Division, college, and universityservice.
Qualifications:Required: 1) Ph.D. in English, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or a closelyrelated field from an institution with US regional accreditation or foreignequivalent by August 2012 (ABDs welcome to apply, granted the doctorate isattained by the time employment begins); 2) A record of scholarlypublications and activities in the areas of interest and expertise; 3) Teachingexperience at the university level, with evidence of teaching ability /scholarship through student evaluations.
Preference will be given to candidates with broad experiences in: 1)English developmental and freshman composition; 2) Second LanguageAcquisition; 3) Language Assessment; 4) English phonology, morphology,syntax, semantics; 5) Psycholinguistics; or an interest in cancer research,outreach, or education.
Salary Level:Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience relevant tothis nine-month position.
