In Kabiye (Gur, Togo), I analyse noun class suffixes as being toneless. The suffix receives its tone as the noun root melody associates to thewhole word.
From discussions with several colleagues, I understand that this is a fairlywidespread phenomenon in African, Amazonian and Asian tonallanguages, but I am interested in published references supporting this. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,Dave Roberts
