The University of Alaska Fairbanks announces a term Assistant Professorposition in Linguistics for the Academic Year 2012-2013 to teach avariety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Linguistics, includingapplied linguistics (second language acquisition and second languageteaching). The successful candidate will be required to have a PhD inLinguistics, Applied Linguistics, or related discipline by time ofappointment. Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Weseek a candidate with a record of excellent teaching in Linguistics and/orApplied Linguistics to teach six semester-length courses during the year.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses inLinguistics and Applied Linguistics. Although exact courses will dependon the applicant, courses will include Introduction to Linguistics, andcourses in general and applied Linguistics, Description andDocumentation. The Masters level degree program in Applied Linguisticsincludes students working on ESL, foreign languages, and Alaska Nativelanguages.

Applications must be received by July 9th. Initial application shouldinclude a letter of application stating qualifications, professionalinterests, and teaching philosophy, a CV, a signed UA application form,and three letters of reference.
