Translation and Lexicography

Dictionaries--general and specialized, printed and online--are one of the mostimportant tools for the translator. Language professionals need to know howto consult and use dictionaries in order to complete a translation taskeffectively, while students of translation need to learn skills to do so. Therelationship between dictionaries and Translation Studies seems also worthinvestigating. Nevertheless, as some scholars have pointed out (Fenner,1989; Roberts, 1997; Corpas Pastor, 2001) dictionaries--and lexicographymore in general--have not be given the attention they deserve in TranslationStudies.

Submissions are invited for a special issue of inTRAlinea online journal oftranslation studies on Translation and Lexicography, to be published in 2013.

Topics may include but are not restricted to the following:-- E-Lexicography and translation-- Dictionary look-up strategies and translation-- Specialized translation and lexicography-- Corpus linguistics and dictionary making-- Translation and lexicographic typology-- Multimedia dictionaries and translation practice-- Advanced query interfaces-- Specialized dictionaries and terminology-- Translator training and dictionary use-- Social media and lexicography
