Duties and Responsibilities:We seek to appoint a lecturer with a strong developing research profile in anyarea of speech or phonetic science. We are seeking candidates who willcomplement existing expertise, attract independent funding and buildcollaborations within UCL, nationally and internationally. The successfulcandidate will be affiliated to the Research Department of Speech Hearingand Phonetic Sciences (Head: Dr Andrew Faulkner). He/she will contribute tocore teaching and develop new advanced-level teaching content, as well asengaging in training of PhD students and junior researchers.

RESEARCH ENVIRONMENTThe Research Department of Speech Hearing and Phonetic Sciences(http://www.ucl.ac.uk/psychlangsci/research/speech) is one of the largestgroupings of researchers addressing the perception and production of speechin the UK. It has outstanding facilities in a recently refurbished building and isco-located with the Research Departments of Linguistics, Language andCommunication, and Developmental Science. All of these departments arepart of the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences(www.ucl.ac.uk/psychlangsci) within the newly formed Brain SciencesFaculty of UCL. The department has extensive laboratory facilities forresearch in speech and language including an anechoic chamber, 7 double-walled audiometric rooms (see http://www.ucl.ac.uk/psychlangsci/research-facilities) and a newly installed a 64-channel EEG/ABR facility. Staff alsohave access to the divisionally-hosted BUCNI fMRI scanner and throughcollaborative links within the Faculty can secure access to MEG.

Summary of job functionThe postholder will be expected to undertake internationally recognisedresearch; to raise funds in order to support their research programme; tosupervise PhD students; to contribute to teaching and administration.
