Assistant Professor, with specialization in second language acquisition ininstructional contexts (position number 82418), University of Hawai'i atManoa, College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature, full-time, tenuretrack, to begin January 1, 2013 or August 1, 2013. The Department ofSecond Language Studies offers a BA, an MA and a PhD in SecondLanguage Studies as well as an Advanced Graduate Certificate. TheUniversity of Hawaii is a Carnegie 'very high research activity university' witha strong orientation to the Asia-Pacific region. The University supportsinterdisciplinary initiatives within and across departments and colleges, andplaces high value on extramural funding.

Duties and responsibilities:The Department seeks to hire one facultymember at the assistant professor level in the area of second languageacquisition in instructional contexts to teach courses at the undergraduateand graduate levels in the area of SLA, with opportunities to teach in otherareas of the Department's curriculum as appropriate; engage in research andservice.

Minimum qualifications:PhD in second language studies, applied linguistics,or closely related field by December 31, 2012 (for January start date) or July31, 2013 (for August start date); demonstrated ability to conduct research inthe applicant's specialization, as evidenced by publication.

Annual 9-month salary: $60,000-$67,500, commensurate with qualificationsand experience.
