The Department of English is a leading centre for English studies in the Asianregion, and has an international reputation for its research on Englishlanguage and literature. Faculty in the Department typically teach fivecourses a year, covering a wide range of subjects including Englishlinguistics, literature, and English for Specific Purposes for students acrossthe University. Duties:Responsible for teaching, development and administration of programs inComposition and discipline-specific English across the University; conductresearch in these fields; undertake Department's academic andadministrative duties as appropriate.
Requirements:A PhD in English Rhetoric and Composition/English for AcademicPurposes/Language Teaching/English Linguistics or related disciplines, withevidence of a strong research agenda and teaching ability. Experience andbackground in the teaching of composition or academic English to ESLstudents is desirable. Candidates are expected to show evidence of theirability to teach university-level writing and reading effectively in a programthat privileges critical thinking through argumentative and analytical writing forstudents from all disciplines in an ESL context, and demonstrate evidence ofmeaningful scholarship through presentations at professional meetings and/orpublications in highly-ranked peer-reviewed journals.
Salary and Conditions of Service:Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness andindividual performance.
