The Linguistics Area of the SW/TX PCA/ACA conference focuses on language and society. This year's theme is 'Celebrating Popular/American Culture in a Global Context.'

Call for Papers:

Proposals are now being accepted for the Linguistics Area, which will focus on language in society. Listed below are some suggestions for possible presentations, but topics not included here are also welcome.

- Language and the Media- Language and Gender- Language and Culture- Language in Advertising- Language and Law- Code-switching- Language use along the border- Dialects- Conversation analysis- Discourse analysis- Language and education

Abstracts of 250 words are to be submitted to the conference database at http://conference2013.swtxpca.org. Inquiries regarding this area may be sent to Nancy Mae Antrim at the email or physical addresses below by November 16, 2012.
