The University of Michigan Language Resource Center (LRC) seeksan instructional technology specialist who is a creative, user-centered, energetic individual to support the development andimplementation of technology in enhancing instructional activities forUniversity of Michigan foreign language, literature and culturecourses. Candidate must have a passion for teaching and learning;be intrigued by languages and cultures of the world; preferably withpersonal experience in foreign language learning and/or in foreignlanguage teaching.

Responsibilities:- Consult, advise, and train language faculty on development andsupport of technology- enabled learning objects and activities.- In collaboration with instructional technology team, create andimplement instructional learning materials, in particular in the area ofonline learning environments.- Manage and coordinate usage of small fleet of video-conferencingunits, including testing, training, updating hardware/software andtroubleshooting.- Provide curricular support to faculty and students engaged invideo-conferencing activities.- Research current and emerging pedagogical practice using video-conferencing technology.- Participate in campus instructional technology community ofpractice, collaborate on projects, develop best practice standardsand disseminate information.

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years work experience in instructionaltechnology, instructional design, information science, or related field.

Technical expertise should include proficiency in a combination ofseveral of the following areas: website development, presentationsoftware, course management system(s), design and integration ofmedia into instructional materials, collaboration and/or socialnetworking technologies, online and/or distance learning, databasedesign, simple coding/programming (HTML, javascript), mobiletechnologies.

Candidates must demonstrate the following:- Experience with and understanding of foreign languageinstructional pedagogy;- The ability to learn, adapt and evolve with technology andpedagogy;- The ability to analyze and align technology solutions withinstructional need, current educational and technological trends, aswell as departmental, college and campus-wide goals/priorities andcampus infrastructure;- Basic comprehension of standard human-computer interactionprinciples;- The ability to work in both Mac and Windows-based environments;- General knowledge of copyright issues in the realm of education;- Ability to work productively under pressure with multiple priorities;- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonalskills;- Ability to communicate effectively with people at varying levels ofcomputer literacy;- and the ability to foster collaborative working relationships at alllevels of the University.

Desired Qualifications:- Masters degree and 3 to 5 years work experience in instructionaltechnology, instructional design, information science, or related field.- Experience teaching language literature or culture to adultlearners.- Experience studying, living, or working abroad.
