Division of English PhD Scholarships
The Division of English at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China operates incollaboration with its home school the School of English, Nottingham, one of theoldest and most prestigious schools of English in the UK. The Centre for Researchin Applied Linguistics China (CRALC) brings together research across both theDivision and the Home School, allowing interdisciplinary work of the higheststandard. CRALC offers an unrivalled research environment which encourages aunique synergy between the context of our location in China and research practicein English Studies
The Division of English is advertising two doctoral scholarships for research in thefollowing areas:
1) Psycholinguistics/Neurolinguistics/Cognitive Neuroscience of Language.2) Discourse Analysis, World Englishes or Contemporary Literature (19th and 20thcentury).
The PhD fellowship is 3 years in length. Tuition fees will be waived and therecipient will receive a monthly stipend sufficient to cover living costs in Ningbo.The recipient may be required to spend some time at the University of NottinghamUK or partner research institutions in Europe.
The successful candidate will be expected to start in September/October 2012.
Applicants must have a good Master's degree in a relevant field, with evidence ofresearch training and/ or a strong final dissertation or project.
Applicants whose first language is not English must have an IELTS average of 7or equivalent English language qualification.
The final day for applications is July 31st 2012. Applications received after thisdate will not be considered.
