Carleton University's School of Linguistics and Language Studiesinvites applications for a tenure-track position in Applied Linguisticsand Discourse Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencingJuly 1, 2013. We are looking for an individual with a specialization inthe teaching and learning of second/additional languages.

Desired additional qualifications are the TESL Ontario TESL TrainerCertificate of Accreditation, and/or an expertise in CALL, and/orteaching experience in and/or relevant scholarship pertaining to one ofthe Modern Languages taught in the School. Applicants should have aPh.D. in Applied Linguistics or related field, a well-defined researchagenda and an active research profile with a strong commitment to thedissemination of scholarship through publication. Applicants mustalso have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach to a culturallydiverse student body in both undergraduate and graduate programs, toprovide graduate supervision at the MA and PhD levels, to develop aprogram of research leading to significant peer-reviewed publications,and to contribute effectively to academic life in the School ofLinguistics and Language Studies.

The School's programs in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studiesare housed in a large unit representing a rich diversity of perspectiveson language, with courses in these areas as well as in Linguistics,American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), German, Italian,Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and less commonly taughtlanguages such as Anishinaabemowin, Inuktitut, Ki-Swahili andTurkish, as well as Communication Courses for Disciplines andProfessions and courses in English as a Second Language forinternational students, immigrants and refugees.
