Description:

The University of Konstanz belongs to the universities in Germany whose"Future concepts for top-class research at universities" is promoted within theframework of the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and stategovernments.

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Konstanz invitesapplications for a W3-Professorship in General and German Linguistics to befilled by April 1, 2013.

The successful candidate should be able to cover German Linguistics in itsentire breadth. His/Her field of expertise should include at least one of thecore areas in Linguistics (Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics orPragmatics), with a secondary specialization in another area, such asPsycholinguistics, Historical Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, etc.

Teaching and examination duties include all the programs in GeneralLinguistics as well as the philological majors (Bachelor, Master, Lehramt) atall curricular levels, including PhD. Teaching and examination in the Germansection is especially important.

We are looking for candidates whose expertise is demonstrated, for example,by publications in established linguistic journals, important monographs,invited conference papers, fellowships and awards (i.e., academicperformance at least equivalent to a German "Habilitation").
