The Department of Linguistics at The University of Texas at Austin seeksapplications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor, with aspecialization in historical linguistics.

Duties include:-Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including our coreundergraduate and graduate courses in historical linguistics-Directing thesis and dissertation research-Conducting original research and publication-Obtaining external funding, as needed, to support a strong research program-Advising undergraduate and graduate students-Performing department, college and institutional service

The successful candidate should have the Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2013,should demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence as a teacher,researcher, advisor, and leader, and should show a strong commitment toworking collaboratively with other faculty members, including those withinthe department as well as those scholars working in historical linguisticsin allied departments.
