The Department of Second Language Studies announces a tenure-trackAssistant Professorship to begin August 2013. The successful candidate willhold (by August 1, 2013) a PhD in Second Language Studies, AppliedLinguistics, Linguistics, or related field, and be engaged in research oninstructed second language acquisition and/or its implications for languagepedagogy. Research potential is expected in an additional area of secondlanguage acquisition research. Documented excellence in teaching (includingclassroom teaching of English as a second or foreign language) is required.

The teaching load will be two courses per semester and include graduatecourses such as Teaching English for Academic Purposes, Methods forTeaching ESL/EFL to Adults, and TESOL Practicum, as well as undergraduateSecond Language Studies courses. Candidates should be able to supervisegraduate teaching assistants in departmental ESL programs, organize teacherworkshops, and advise on aspects of ESL curriculum, materials development,and implementation.
