Description:
Western Michigan University invites applications and nominations for theposition of Assistant Professor of Arabic, an academic year, tenure-trackposition within the Department of World Languages and Literatures, pendingbudgetary approval.
Major Responsibilities:-Teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in standard Arabic andcolloquial Arabic language (taught in Arabic) and Middle Eastern cultureand literature (taught in English).-Research in the field is expected and will be necessary for advancement.-Additional responsibilities include advising, curricular development,participation in student activities and outreach, and service ondepartment, college, and university committees.
Minimum Qualifications:-Ph.D. in Arabic linguistics, applied linguistics, or related field.-Native or near-native fluency in both Arabic and English essential.-College teaching experience expected.
Desired Qualifications:-Record of publications desirable.-Successful experience in grant-writing a plus.
