Description:
This position requires the selected candidate to teach a 2/2 load inSpanish at either or both of the undergraduate and graduate levels; to beavailable for mentoring and advising students; to help coordinate andexpand Spanish course offerings at our campuses in both Commerce and aroundthe Dallas Metroplex, including the possibility of teaching face-to-face atlocations in addition to Commerce. Candidates must also be able tocoordinate and supervise all activities in the Spanish B.A. and M.A.programs, including developing new initiatives for recruiting and retainingqualified students. Additional duties include satisfactory engagement withscholarly research, and service duties. The ideal candidates will haveSociolinguistics with an emphasis on Heritage Speakers as their areas ofresearch. PhD in Spanish required.

PhD in Spanish. Candidates for this position should have gained tenure at aprevious institution with promotion to Professor or Associate Professor.Candidates' research areas must include sociolinguistics and Spanish forHeritage Speakers, and candidates must have an established record ofresearch and publications.
This position requires previous administrative experience, includingexperience advising graduate students. Candidates should possess ademonstrable ability to work cooperatively with others.
