ICU’s educational mission isbased on Christian and democratic principles. ICU has 3,000 students fromJapan and overseas. The university is located on a wooded campus in thesuburbs of Tokyo.

The College of Liberal Arts, International Christian University is pleased toannounce an open search for a full-time faculty position in AppliedLinguistics in Japanese as a Second or Foreign Language. The successfulapplicant is expected to teach general education, foundation, and area majorcourses, as well as courses in the Japanese Language Program, the JapaneseLanguage Teacher Training Program, and the graduate school.

Rank and title:Associate professor or above. (In Japan the rank of "Associate Professor" isan entry-level faculty position equivalent to "Assistant Professor" in NorthAmerican universities.)

Qualifications:1. Ph.D. or equivalent in the related fields is required.2. Language of instruction: Japanese and English.3. Commitment to the University’s Christian mission.4. Relevant teaching experience in Japanese pedagogy is necessary.

Selection process:After documentary screening, short-listed candidates will be requested to givea lecture in Japanese or English and to be interviewed.
