The Department of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania invitesapplications for a tenure-track position in Phonetics at the rank of AssistantProfessor. The position will begin on July 1, 2013 at the earliest. Thesuccessful candidate is expected to have the Ph.D. by the start of theappointment.
Applicants should present a proven record of research and evidence ofexcellence in teaching. Duties will include directing the phoneticslaboratory. The department particularly encourages applications from scholarswho can contribute to Penn's tradition of cooperation across subdisciplineswithin linguistics and can participate actively in interdisciplinary researchin cognitive science. Special areas of interest include sociophonetics, theformal interface of phonetics with other subfields, and the application ofcomputational techniques to large corpora of phonetic data.
