Description:
The Leuphana University of Lüneburg is seeking to fill a part-time position (50% of full-time hours) as a Research Assistant (Pay Grade 13 TV-L) at the Institute of English Studies of the Faculty of Education at the next possible date. The duration of this position will be limited to a period of two years.
Area of Responsibility:The successful candidate will be assigned the following tasks:- Performing conceptual work supporting the expansion of the LinA Lab (Laboratory for EmpiricalResearch on Language in Action) at the Institute of English Studies
- Providing support and advice regarding empirical research questions in English linguistics,especially in the use of language corpora and in statistical analysis- Producing supporting videos, preparing supporting documents, and designing exercise materialsregarding linguistic methods and topics- Conducting an empirical study within the relevant thematic field and assisting with thepublication of the research findings
Required Qualifications:- Above-average degree in the English language with a focus on English linguistics- Very good knowledge of the methods applied in empirical linguistics, especially in the field ofcorpus analysis and statistics- Familiar with quantitative and qualitative analysis programs (e.g., SPSS, R, MAXQDA, f4)- Very good knowledge in the fields of pragmatics and/or sociolinguistics- Very good command of the English language- Doctoral degree (desirable)- Capable of working independently
