Description:

The Department of English at Stockholm University wishes to employ atemporary lecturer in Sociolinguistics.

Main duties: The successful applicant is expected to teach courses inEnglish Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, and World Englishes at theundergraduate and Master's level and to take part in developing coursematerials.

Required qualifications: Applicants should have completed a PhD in arelevant field, such as English Linguistics. Completion of a course inuniversity pedagogy (or equivalent) would be considered an advantage.Applicants should be able to document their teaching abilities and capacityto work with heterogeneous learner groups and students from differentbackgrounds.

Assessment criteria: In the evaluation of candidates for this post,substantial weight will be given to the applicant's teaching abilities andresearch activities. The candidate to be chosen is the one who isconsidered to possess the most evident capacity to carry out the duties ofthe position in question, as well as to contribute to the progress anddevelopment of the Department.

The successful candidate is expected to start on 1 August 2012 at thelatest. Employment to this post is limited to a fixed term of one year,subject to extension by another year.
