Dear colleagues,
In a pilot to a larger project, I would be interested in knowing moreabout the argument structure of the verb ''to sacrifice'' in variouslanguages. More specifically, whether the structure of the followingthree sentences run in parallel:
(1) John sacrificed food to the ancestors.(2) John gave food to the elders.(3) John told a story to his parents.
For instance, I already know that the dative object of (3) in Dutch isexpressed with a different preposition.
Any information, data, references and hints are very welcome.
Thank you in advance,
