The Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation (ILCC) at the
University of Edinburgh invites applications for three-year PhD
studentships starting in September 2013. ILCC is dedicated to the
pursuit of basic and applied research on computational approaches to
language, communication and cognition. Primary research areas include:
* Natural language processing and computational linguistics
* Spoken language processing
* Dialogue and multimodal interaction
* Information extraction, retrieval and presentation
* Computational theories of human cognition
* Educational and assistive technology
The Studentships are available for EU and UK nationals only. They
cover maintenance at the research council rate of around GBP 13 500
per year, plus tuition fees at the EU/UK rate.
Applicants should have a good honours degree or equivalent in
computational linguistics, speech technology, cognitive science,
computer science, or a related discipline.
