Description:

The School of European Culture and Languages is seeking to appoint a Lecturerin Danish Language, Linguistics and Culture, with a research specialization inlinguistics. Specialization within linguistics is open but preference will begiven to candidates whose expertise complements and strengthens the currentlinguistics research clusters in experimental and formal linguistics(particularly phonetics and laboratory phonology, syntax and pragmatics),sociolinguistics and literary stylistics. The ideal candidate is expected tobe a native Danish speaker and to have research experience and publicationscommensurate with the stage in their career. He or she should possessversatility in teaching and will be expected to teach Danish at all levels, toteach linguistics in the B.A. and M.A. programmes, to promote Danish cultureand Scandinavian Studies, to provide graduate supervision, and to contributeto administration.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevantdiscipline with a research specialisation in linguistics, as well as auniversity degree corresponding to a British Master’s or a Danish cand. mag.,preferably in Danish. Evidence of excellent research activity is required andteaching experience is desirable. The successful candidate should be able totake up the post on 1st September 2013.
