This post is to carry out a high quality research project to conductfundamental research on the role of fine phonetic variation in sound changeby:- Continuing to develop a real-time corpus of Glaswegian vernacular speech- Implementing an existing discourse analytical technique for the Glasgowcorpus for data comparison- Contributing to the development of appropriate acoustic measures foranalysing coda /r/ and /l/- Providing and comparing quantitative real and apparent time accounts ofvariation and change in Glaswegian over the past 40 years on the basis ofcontinuous acoustic phonetic measures for both vowels and consonants, withrespect to a range of linguistic and social factors
