Meeting Description:

The Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic announces the Sixth Brno Conference on Linguistics Studies in English on the theme of Communication across Genres and Discourses, which will be held in Brno on 11-12 September 2014. The Sixth Brno Conference will be dedicated to current trends and developments in English linguistics studies with a focus on communication in various genres and discourses.

We are pleased to announce that the following keynote speakers have confirmed their participation at the conference:

Prof. Dr. Anita Fetzer, University of Ausburg, Germany
Dr. Karen Bennett, University of Coimbra, Portugal
Prof. Dr. Aleš Klégr, Charles University, Czech Republic

Call for Papers:

Sixth Brno Conference on Linguistics Studies in English 2014
Communication across Genres and Discourses
Brno, 11-12 September 2014

We welcome contributions on a wide range of linguistics topics, such as discourse analysis, stylistics, translation studies, pragmatics, genre analysis, hybrid types of discourse, and multi-media communication.

Selected contributions presented at the conference will be published in a thematic volume or in the linguistic journal Discourse and Interaction. Authors will receive a free copy of the respective publication. All participants will receive the thematic volume.

If you wish to present a paper at the conference, please indicate the title on the registration form. Abstracts of 200-250 words should be sent to by 30 May 2014 (in the subject of your email please include your name and the word ''abstract''). Participants will be notified of acceptance by 30 June 2014.
